This course is a self-study online course, for those of you who are curious about growing and like the idea of a more sustainable lifestyle. You want to learn more about growing in layers and gain increased knowledge about how the location affects your cultivation as well as great inspiration about perennial vegetables as well as other edible plants.

As tools and aids, we use Permaculture design, which is a sustainable method.

The purpose of the course is to give you basic knowledge of permaculture design and forest gardening, to provide a structure that increases the basic conditions for success, for you, in your location.

Through the course interface you will learn how to create your own permaculture design with a focus on the key features of your own design. This can be self-sufficiency and sustainable lifestyle as well as the creation of your own forest garden using the permaculture design method. We look forward to the course giving you great knowledge as well as motivation to continue with your creation even after the end of the course.

Week after week, Module Content

Each module contains a whole range of different topics and assignments. In certain modules, you answer directly within the interface and can access everyone else's answers. You also have access to our Facebook group where you can ask your own questions, get support and advice, and participate in other people's questions, tips, and information.

Module 1 | Part 1

We go through the history of permaculture, your chosen site, and your personal dreams and wishes for your selected location.

Module 1 | Part 2

We study permaculture ethics, zones, sectors & principles, working through your tools ahead of the creation phase.

Module 2

Visions and needs assessment of the stakeholders at the location (one or multiple), alongside selecting key functions for the design.

Module 3

Cultivation zones, prerequisites, site data, biodiversity, sectors, and micro-zones - Your location from overall pattern down to details!

Module 4

A step-by-step methodology for implementation + methods to evaluate & continuously develop your created design year after year.

Module 5

We explore all layers, from the canopy layer to the highest point in the garden down to the lowest groundcover layer. We also study companion planting.

Module 6

Resources, catching & storing energy, creating systems & closed loop cycles in design. Site-design structure & building things out.
